Egypt, Serbia studying free-trade-deal, minister

CAIRO – Egyptian Trade and Industry Minister Nivene Gamea announced on
Wednesday that a free-trade agreement between Egypt and Serbia is being studied,
saying the two countries are seeking to activate co-operation in customs and
agricultural and health quarantine as well as accelerate drug registration procedures
and set up mechanisms for pre-shipment inspection of exports.
This came during her participation in an Egyptian-Serbian business forum that was
opened by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and his Serbian counterpart Aleksandar
Vučić in Belgrade.
During the gathering, the minister also stressed the importance of reactivating the
Egyptian-Serbian business council’s role to improve economic relations between the
two countries in all fields.
She highlighted the great steps that Egypt has taken to enhance the national industry,
increase export rates, improve the investment environment and encourage the private
sector to increase its role in all development domains.
